The new part of Diablo 4 was released on June 6, and some lucky people, thanks to unique pre-order sets, can play it a few days earlier. How did the new part of the famous demonic series turn out, what features appeared in it compared to previous releases, and whether it’s worth spending time with those who’ve never played Diablo? Here’s what you need to know before you begin.
What’s Diablo 4 about?
Strictly speaking, the Diablo series has yet to be about the story. Even the first part was a lot like a multiplayer RPG, where the quests and quests were just an excuse for adventure, and the writers only tried to make it look more or less decent and create an atmosphere.
But for the fourth game, they decided to fix that. Each story mission in Diablo 4 flaunts a beautiful screen saver with a current level of staging, graphics and character animation, so it’s much more interesting to follow the action. And the additional missions are a lot more engaging than they used to be.
Diablo 4 takes place 53 years after the finale of the previous game – Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls. The Sanctuary – the base world of Diablo, between Blazing Hell and the High Heavens – has barely survived the war between these abodes.
As did the civilian population, many glorious warriors perished in the fierce battles between demons and angels. However, half a century had passed, and it seemed that these horrors were far behind them, but a great evil had again entered the world.
Mysterious cultists performed a bloody ritual that caused Lilith, Mephisto’s daughter and the mother of all humanity, to return to Sanctuary. She possesses unbounded power over all mortals and strikes terror into all hearts. The demoness wants to regain her father’s strength to conquer Sanctuary and the Underworld.
Of course, the player needs to stop these evil plans and prevent another catastrophe. To do this, one of the five heroes is sent on a journey filled with crowds of demons and other evil spirits.
How does Diablo 4 play?
On the one hand, Diablo 4 plays the same way as the previous three. It’s still an action RPG with an isometric camera below the bird’s-eye view. The player moves his character around, chops up crowds of enemies, finds new equipment and powers up his character.
In this regard, all the critical features of the game remain in place: initially given several (now there are five) classes to choose from, each of which has various skills. These include both passive bonuses and active abilities
Hasn’t gone away one of the most significant features of the Diablo series and similar games – tons of so-called loot. We are talking about various equipment, including unique weapons and armour for each of the five heroes, as well as numerous amulets, rings and other talismans that increase the characteristics.
But there are plenty of new features in the game, too. Diablo 4 has an open “seamless” world for the first time in the series, which you can explore without downloading. The game has five regions, each with its atmosphere and conditions. During the adventure, you will have to visit the endless deserts, the sprawling forests, the interminable swamps and the terrifying lands destroyed by the war of angels and demons. The game also dynamically changes the weather and time of day.
To comfortably navigate these expenses, you should also be aware of another innovation – riding animals. Horses and other tame animals can be adjusted in appearance and load them as additional supplies and trophies obtained in battles.
Another new feature is a full-fledged multiplayer component. Diablo has always been a companion game; since the first part, you could invite a friend to the network and slay demons together. The console version of Diablo 3 allowed you to do it on the couch, making it even more enjoyable. Now it’s more like an MMORPG.
Now, all the locations run and other players – but most can be found in the so-called public areas. Under this definition are safe zones and some dungeons designed for joint passage.
For the sake of this player has the sense to join a group of up to four people, which will give not only the chance to survive in battles with particularly vicious bosses but also a noticeable 5-10% gain in experience.
Users can even fight with each other – for this special zone called “Hate Fields”. Everyone can find out whose class is more relaxed and who has better spells and skills there.
Who do you play in Diablo 4?
It is an essential question for any Diablo player. In this fourth instalment, we’ve seen changes to the original cast of characters we’ve added through add-ons.
- Barbarian. The only character who relies heavily on melee combat. Uses large swords, axes, hammers and other massive weapons—one of the best options for the first pass by beginners.
- Wizard. Subdues the elements and uses other magic such as teleportation, freezing, fireballs, lightning strikes, and so on.
- Druid. It can summon the aid of animals and wields earth and wind magic.
- Outlaw. A speedy and agile character who uses mainly bow and throwing weapons. However, in close combat, poisoned daggers can help.
- Necromancer. He uses dark magic and summons the undead to help him.
Now you can change each hero’s appearance with the detailed editor and choose the gender. Previously, these were all predetermined parameters that could not be changed.
