Warzone players can carry far more gear than their counterparts in Warzone 1, with backpacks capable of storing multiple armor plates, Self Revives, and gas masks. However, the number of weapon slots limits how many can be used in a match.
The Owen Gun is a great SMG for close-quarters combat, with high accuracy and plenty of bullets to burn through. Use the best Owen Gun loadout to get the most out of it.
1. Bullfrog
Since its addition to the Black Ops Cold War roster in Season 4, Bullfrog has proven to be one of the most adaptable submachine guns in Warzone. Because of its enormous magazine, acceptable rate of fire, and good headshot damage, it has a high floor and sky-high ceiling for expert players.
The best Bullfrog loadout is a simple one that emphasizes its mobility and accuracy. First, go with a GRU Suppressor to keep you off the radar while increasing range and bullet velocity. Then, equip a KGB Skeletal Stock to increase the weapon’s ADS firing move speed, aim walking movement speed, and sprint-to-fire time. This improves your mobility even further while retaining the excellent magazine size and rate of fire. This makes the Bullfrog an ideal choice for those quick and hectic close-quarters engagements on Caldera or Rebirth Island.
2. Lachmann Sub
The Lachmann Sub — known to most players as the MP5 — is one of the most popular SMGs in Call of Duty. This run-and-gun SMG is great for sweeping through the map’s various built-up areas and close-range encounters.
To maximize the weapon’s effectiveness, we’ve equipped it with the L38 Falcon 226mm barrel which increases movement and Aim Down Sight speed. This set also features the KT 85 Muzzle which reduces the recoil and Bruen Pendulum which smoothes out its erratic shot pattern.
For the Perk Package, we chose Double Time which doubles your kill streak, and Tracker which hides death skulls — ideal in chaotic 6v6 matches. Lastly, Overlock is perfect for boosting your field upgrades as it allows you to recharge them twice as fast. This loadout is a great choice for those looking to take advantage of the Lachmann Sub’s versatility in Warzone 2.0.
3. Owen Gun
The Owen Gun is a great SMG for Warzone, offering high accuracy and plenty of bullets. It’s especially good at close range, where it can easily one-shot enemies on the head. You can find a full Owen Gun loadout guide here.
The ISO Hemlock is a top-tier SMG in Warzone, giving players a powerful weapon for either the close-range engagements on Fortune’s Keep or the long-range battles on Caldera. It’s easy to use and has solid recoil control, making it a great choice for any SMG player. To learn more, check out our complete ISO Hemlock loadout guide.
4. Victus XMR
The Victus XMR is one of the best weapons in Warzone due to its damage and range, making it perfect for long-range fights. It also has the highest headshot damage of any sniper rifle in the game, allowing you to instantly kill fully armored enemies from afar.
To get the most out of this sniper, equip it with Bruen Counter-Ops Muzzle for sound suppression and faster bullet velocity. Next, use the VLK LZR 7MW Laser for faster ADS time and aiming stability, as well as Sprint-to-Fire speed.
This gun is the ideal choice for players looking to dominate at long-range on maps like Al Mazrah and Ashika Island. Its combination of perks and attachments makes it one of the most effective weapons in the meta. It is also a good option for players who want to avoid the recoil of other more powerful weapons.
5. Vargo 52
With recent nerfs, the RAAL isn’t quite as good as it was before, but its ease of use still makes it one of the most useful weapons in Warzone. The best RAAL loadout offers incredible damage potential and a competitive time to kill at close to mid-range.
The Owen Gun is a fantastic SMG for close-quarters gunfights, and it can even compete with the Lachmann Sub at longer ranges if kitted out right. Check out our complete Owen Gun loadout guide for more info.
The Cronen Squall is a great assault rifle for new players and veterans alike, and its serious damage can easily compete with the likes of the Automaton, STG44, and Vargo 52 (at least within 30 meters). It’s also easy to unlock thanks to a simple weapon challenge. Just make sure to offset its movement penalties with a few key attachments.
6. H4 Blixen
After a huge patch, the H4 Blixen is now one of the most popular submachine guns in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It is a hard-hitting SMG that can dominate close-quarter gunfights on the maps such as Caldera or Fortune’s Keep.
The best H4 Blixen loadout features attachments that bolster the SMG’s accuracy, fire rate, mobility, and control. It includes the Jonsson Skeletal CR-10 stock, Heavy Foregrip and Fabric Grip combo which raises the weapon’s accuracy and softens its recoil.
It also comes with the Serpentine mod which reduces incoming damage to your base player health by 15%. This makes it a great choice for aggressive players willing to run and gun. This combination is especially effective in Warzone’s smaller maps where enemies can be encountered at shorter distances. It is a great choice for anyone who prefers running and gunning over engaging in long-range battles.
7. XM4
As the latest addition to the Warzone SMG meta, XM4 has become one of the best close-range guns in the game. It offers decent accuracy from a distance, but can also be used for suppressive fire with the right attachments. The 13.7″ Takedown Barrel increases bullet velocity, which is a must for this gun.
It’s a great choice for players who prefer to keep their distance but still want to be able to hit enemies in the head with a quick shot. The XM4’s TTK is about average for a fully-auto weapon, so hitting headshots will be essential.
You’ll need to reach player level 4 in either Black Ops Cold War or Warzone to unlock the XM4 blueprint. It’s a great option for close-range combat and will make you a deadly SMG specialist in Warzone. The XM4 has the potential to be a strong top-tier SMG, but it’ll need some more balancing and tweaking before that happens.
8. Marco
In a game where players are competing against 140-plus other people, having the best gear can be the difference between winning and losing. However, that doesn’t mean you have to resort to Warzone Cheats or hacks.
The Marco is an assault rifle that’s a little better than the M4. It’s good at all ranges and easy to control, making it perfect for beginners or those who want to stick with a safe choice. The EM2 is another solid option. It might not have the stopping power of other snipers, but it has a decent damage output and works well with one of the new Warzone perks. Check out our EM2 loadout guide to find the perfect combination for your needs.
9. STG44
Following Raven Software’s recent dose of buffs and nerfs, the STG44 has returned to be a top-tier SMG in Warzone. Its respectable TTK and damage per mag make it a great choice for players who want to rip through enemies at medium range. If you pair it with a top-tier meta loadout, the STG44 can be one of the most effective weapons in the game.
The H4 Blixen is a beast in Warzone, thanks to its fast-firing and shredding capabilities. It also has a great magazine size and strafe speed, allowing it to be a top-tier gun in Warzone.
10. TAQ-56
The TAQ-56 is a great option for players who enjoy close-range gunfights. It’s not quite as effective as a fast AR, but it offers an excellent mix of damage and mobility. It also benefits from a variety of attachments that boost accuracy and damage while reducing recoil. Check out our full guide to the best TAQ-56 loadout for more info.
The Grau 5.56 is a solid pick for those looking to play Warzone Pacific. Despite getting a few nerfs in Season 2, it’s still an effective choice thanks to its high bullet velocity. It can still one-shot headshot at long range. However, it’s outgunned by most burst-fire weapons in the game.
